Gita Makes | Lined Jute Baskets With Diaper Boxes

Turn a diaper box into a decorative lined box.

Turn a diaper box into a decorative lined box.

Diaper boxes are durable and sturdy, it’s a shame to have to throw them away or even recycle. The boxes that we purchase also fit perfectly into our kid station in the family room. Once again the internet came through! I found several Pintrest posts about how to reuse/repurpose diaper boxes and was inspired by Red Stick Mom block post (Click Here ) and decided to go for it! I had two boxes to recreate and since this was my first attempt at making these, I purchased inexpensive bulk fabric (about $3.97 per yard) from the local Walmart and a spool of thick jute ($3.99 per spool). The fabric complements some fabric boxes we already purchased from Home Goods. I already had a glue gun and a large 20 pack of glue sticks for the

Notes: Although the Red Stick Mom blog shows that the lining was glued in, I decided to sew mine since I was itching to use my sewing machine after a long time, and preferred to have a removable liner for my box. I was VERY happy with the results. In addition to creating the lining, I used extra left over (cut out) fabric to cover the bottom of the box to cover the gap and give it a cleaner finish.

I recommend at least cutting out the fabric for the liner before gluing the jute onto the box so that you have left over/cut out fabric to cover the bottom of the box.
